“One of the most important and valuable laws of sucessful living is the power of postive thinking”. Positive Thinking means having the right perception of life. All change in the quality of a person’s life must grow out of a change in his vision of the reality. William James, the famous psychologist remarked, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind”. Hence it is necessary to have the right perception in these five main categories: Self, Other people, Life, the world and God.
Google says, Positive thinking is looking at events with a knowledge that there will be good and bad in life but that it is better to emphasize the good and as you do that, good seems to increase (Norman Vincent Peale)
The Power of Positive Thinking:
Trust Yourself
“Nine Simple and workable rules for overcoming inadequate attidues and learning to practice faith:
- Formulated and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop this picture. Never doubt the reality of the mental image of success. The mind always tries to comlete what it pictures. So, always picture ‘success’no matter how badly things seem to be going at the moment.
- Whenever a negative thought concerning your personal powers comes to mind, deliberately voice a positive thought to cancel it out.
- Do not build up obstacles in your imagination. Depreciate every so-called obstacle. Minimize them. Difficulties must be studied and efficiently dealt with to be eliminated.
- Do not be awestruck by other people and do not try to copy them. Nobody can do as efficiently as you can. Remember also that most people, despite their confident appearance and actions, are often as scared as you are and as doubtful of themselves.
- Tem times a day, repeat these dynamic words: ‘If God be for us, who can be against us?’
- Get a competent counselor to help you understand why you do what you do. Learn the origin of your inferiority and self-doubt feelings which often begin in childhood. Self-knowledge leads to a cure.
- Tem times each day practice th following affirmation , repeating it out loud if possible:’ I can do all things through God who strengthens me’. Repeat those words now. That magic statement is the most powerful antidote on earth to inferiority thoughts.
- Make a true estimate of your own ability, then raise it to ten percent. Do not become egotistical, but develop a wholesome self-respect. Belive in your own God-released powers.

- Repeat slowly, bringing out the melody of each, such words as (i) tranquility, (ii) Serenity, (iii) quietness. Or repeat some poem you have memorized that carried the mood of peace and quiet.
- Remember and dwell on the times when you have been conscious of God’s watchful care. Recall times when you were worried or anxious and turned to Him for help and brought you throught. Recite a line from some old hymn, such as “so long”Thy power hath kept me, sure it still will lead me on.

Why Worry:
The Ways to handle worry in one’s life:
- Say to yourself:”Worry is just a very bad habit. I can change any habit with God’s help”.
- You became worrier by practicing worry. You can become free of worry by practicing the opposite and stronger habit of faith. With all the strength and perseverance you can command, start practicing faith.
- How do you practice faith? Every morning say aloud, “I belive”. Say it three Times.
- Pray, using the formula: “I place this day in the Lord’s hands. Whatever Happens, if I am in the Lord’s hands it is the Lord’s will and it is good”.
- Practive saying something positive concerning everything. Do not talk negatively. Don’t say, “This day’s going to be tough. Say, I am going to enjoy this”. Don’t say I’ll never be able to do what I have to do today”. Say, “With God’s help I can do it”.
- Never take part in a worry conversation. A group of people talking pessimistically can infect every person in the group. By talking things up rather than down, you can drive away that depressing atmosphere and make everybody else feel hopeful and happy.
- Cultivate Friendship with hopeful people.”
Live it up!
Snap out of that bad mood and start thinking positively. Life is to be lived and not spent worrying.
“Everyone naturally wants to be happy and in a good mood. Sometimes, though, either physical illness or negative stress that happens in our lives turns our good moods sour. Sometimes it’s just our own mind at work excessively worrying about this or that, being pessimistic, feeling irritated at someone else, or criticizing ourselves needlessly.
With a little knowledge and practice, though, we can sucessfully change our bad moods back into good moods. When we are in a good mood, we tend to have more energy. After all, it takes a lot of energy to worry, criticize and generally maintain a bad mood. Not to mention the loss of sleep, our bad moods can very well cause us. This in turn also affects our general health and well-being.
Good moods also promote a feeling of self-esteem and self-confidence. When we are in a good mood, we feel good about ourselves and our surroundings. We feel at peace with ourselves. We have to feel this way before we can open –up and love others as ourselves. And with loving someone else and being loved in return, comes even more feelings of self-esteem and happiness. In order to rid ourselves of a bad mood, it might be as simple as just remembering to count the blessings in our lives-our family, our friends, our jobs, our homes and all of those little things that we are blessed with. Sometimes remembering all of our blessings reminds us how lucky we are. It also serves to remind us that our blessings out-weigh whatever it was that we allowed to put us in a bad mood.
So practicing gratitude is the easy and best way to be positive in most of the time. Listening positive affirmations also can help us to be positive. Also will give the clear perception about to see the good things, even if it is in bad situation.
So, “Make a positive image of your self and think of all that you are capable of attaining your goals.”
