12 Life Skills required for Work Environment

As per Google to maintain a healthy work environment we need to know few qualities, that helps to maintain a good work environment.

1. Seeing Possibilites:

Life is full of issues, full of decisions that we often take for granted. We tend to took at things only in out own frame of reference. Yet no two images are the same, and there are many sides to every issue. Look again, and you will see through new eyes. Question what you see, how you look at it. Ask yourself, “what if?” Challenge what seems to be and you will see the possibilities.

2. Listening Actively:

Each day immerses us in a myriad of messages. Short and long, they shower upon us numbing. When other speak, do you hear the ripples of meaning and understanding? Listening drowns in the eager voices and our mind, when you listen actively, you are intent on the same message and on the speaker, absorbing content and feeling and meaning. After you listen comes the time to compose your reply. And to reflect to your listener that you absorbed the message. Truly hearing what was said.

3. Managing Change:

Think about it. Change is every-where. Minute by minute, in all walks of live, change is constant, inevitable. The fruit of change is opportunity and its seed will nurture you. From change springs growth, progress and fulfilment. When you manage change you embrace it. Find the good in it. Hear its promise, learn from it. And the world becomes an exciting place in your desire to know what comes next.

4. Taking initiative:

Good things don’t happen themselves and rarely come when one only waits and hopes. If it is important, it is up to you to help it along, actively pursue it. When you take intiative, take that first step, you gather you energy and turn it toward your goal, bringing it closer, making it cleared. New ideas, wondrous dreams, unvoiced hopes come to life with initiative.

And in making a start you gain momentum and new-found strength.

5. Keeping Focused:

Setting goals motivates us, directs our energies, leading us along in natural progression. The hectic pace of life can pull us away from our proper path. When you keep focused, you waste no energy on distractions which obscure your objective, direct your attention. Concentrate on the task at hand, where it is leading and where you intend to go. Let interruptions fall by the side, and always build toward your destination.

6. Staying Centred:

Pressures of our hectic lives push at the peace of inner mind. What is right? What is best? What is important? Stresses of work and personal commitment can cloud or clarity of purpose. The true test is within- where life’s light burns brightest, and the outside would is a distant sun. To stay centred, look inside yourself. Collect your thoughts. Examine what matters and what doesn’t. Let the inner truth guide you through.

7. Remaining Objective:

In pressing times emotion rushes at you from every direction, demanding your time, and draining your energy, seek haven in objective thought and you weather the storm. Tides of emotion spend themselves in the face of hard reason. Step back from the fray, collect what is known, discard that which is suspect. Consider alternative and test your conclusions. Remain objective and you stay the course.

8. Seizing Opportunity:

Ideas colour our world with possibility. They are everywherer and take all guises. Good or Bad, large or small, they come and are gone in the blink of an eye. Be ever alert, ever watchful, to seize opportunity, to recognise possibilities and assess potential. Grasp firmly and idea whose time has come. Put aide you fears and reach for what might be.

9. Gaining Perspective:

It is all too easy to get caught in the hustle of competing demands to lose sight of what it important now and what can wait another day. Your most precious commodities are time and energy. And each day you must decide how to spend them. There is a natural time to pause, to step back and reflect, to allow yourself a break from the hectic moment. Breathe deeply. Stretch and move. Clear your mind. Find the perspective you need to be your best. And return to your work, your life renewed and refreshed.

10. Following Through:

There are two kinds of people –  those who do and those who might. An action succeeds, a promise is honoured, a commitment is kept only at the moment of comletion. When you do what you say you will do, you follow through. There is no “maybe”. No unfulfilled words. Others know where you stand and learn to count on you in following through you gain control, a power born of responsibilities, and the satisfaction of a job well done.

11. Setting Priorities:

You could do many things that would be fun, easy and even useful. Yet one item on your list “to do” is more vital than the rest, your highest priority, brining the greatest regard for your effort. Ask yourself, “Is it the best use of my energy right now?” When you concentrate on the important and postpone the trivial, you accomplish and succeed, you reach your goals and you feel about yourself in the process.

12. Being Organised:

There is perfect order to nature. No wasted effort, no needless movemement, no clutter. It is the tracks of the sun, the progression of each day, the tides, the seasons, the community of life. When actions of people are well connected and flow easily in natural sequence, accomplishment follows. When you are organised, you are ready. You plan each step along the way, anticipate needs it good time. You focus your effort and find improvement. You gain clarity of purpose and find hidden strength.

Six steps to create a positive workplace:

  1. Spend time with people you work with. You can’t know what employees think, feel or what kind of pressure they’re under unless you spend quality time with them. Take time to genuinely show intrest in their work and how they’re doing.
  2. Don’t say ‘don’t’. Use ‘can’t, don’t and no’ sparingly…they are mostly likely to stop creativity and initiative.
  3. Don’t get personal. When things go wrong, focus on changing inappropriate behavior rather than berating the person. Address areas for improvement.
  4. Empower! Most people are happier when they feel in control of their destinies. Give employees as much autonomy as possible in their day-to-day activities.
  5. Share information. Be honest and willing to share whatever information you can about projects and organizational issues.
  6. Smile. Work on your own positive attitude.
